CLASSROOM RULES:
PURPOSE/GOAL OF THE CLASS:
1. Make students aware of the individuals and events that have helped to shape our world and country into what they are today and how it relates to their lives.
2. Prepare students to be more informed citizens.
ABSENCE POLICY
If you are absent you are responsible for obtaining the missing assignments. If you missed notes you must ask a peer for their notes. I will have an area in the room where you can find the assignments you missed and I will also update my class website where you can retrieve assignments. School policy says students have the number of days missed to make up the work. If you are not present for an assessment, you will be allowed to make it up when you return school. I will keep names of students that miss assessments on the board it their responsibility to schedule a time with me to make up the assessment. I expect to have all late work or missed assessments turned in or completed within a week of your return to school.
ASSESSMENTS
Students will be given note quizzes randomly to make sure students are taking notes daily.
Students will be assessed during units to check for understanding and also be assessed at the end of each unit. Assessments can range from short answer questions, extended responses, and or multiple choice assessments.
“DO NOWS”
Everyday students will have a “Do Now” presented on the board that they are to complete before we begin class. Do Now’s can range from a task to complete to answering a question from the day before. “Do Nows” will be checked every Friday for a grade. “Do Nows” are NOT allowed to be made up. If a student was absent then they simply write absent for that day on their Do Now log. Being absent will not count against their Do Now grade.
BATHROOM POLICY
Students should try their best to use the restroom in between classes and at lunch. I choose to let students use the restroom in my class at the appropriate time. If students begin to abuse the bathroom privilege in my class I have the right to decline their bathroom requests. Students must sign out of the classroom and take the hall pass.
